Abstract: This ICR supports a cooperative agreement that funds the University of Massachusetts at Amherst to study soil ingestion. Construction workers will be studied. Construction workers may be at high risk due to their exposure in environments with contaminated soils. Higher ingestion of contaminated soils would be expected both from normal hand to mouth contact as well as ingestion of soil/dust particles that are inhaled (larger particles will be deposited in the airways and ingested).
