The purpose of this project is to
develop a system for conducting statistically robust surveys of
commericial pilots to measure NAS safety levels, safety trends and
the impacts of new technologies and procedures. When fully
implemented, NASA will use these data to actively monitor the
safety of the national aviation system through measurement of NAS
safety levels (incident rates), detection and interpretation of
safety trends, and ongoing evolution of the impact of new
technologies and procedures using a scientifically rigorous
design.
