Section 4207 of the Balanced Budget
Act of 1997 mandated HCFA to conduct a demonstration project to
evaluate the effectiveness of advanced computer and
telecommunications technology ("telemedicine") to manage the care
of people with diabetes. HCFA issued a request for proposals and,
after review of the responses, selected a consortium led by
Columbia University to conduct this project.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
