Abstract: On June 13, 202, the Commission released a Report and Order, In the matter of Policies and rules for the direct Broadcast Satellite ("DBS") Service; IB Docket No. 98-21, FCC 02-10. The Report and Order modifies DBS regulation to more closely reflect the regulation of other satellite services, moves the rules for DBS to Part 25 of the Commission's rules and eliminates part 100 of the Commission's rules. These revisions are intended to simplify the procedures applicable to DBS, eliminate unneccesary filing requirements, and harmonize the DBS licensing process with that of other satelite services.
