Data are collected by 60 reporting
areas (50 states, the District of Colubmia, New York City, Puerto
Rico, and 7 jurisdictions in the Pacific and Caribbean) on newly
reported tuberculosis cases using the Report of Verified Case of
Tuberculosis (RVCT). A comprehensive software package, the
Tuberculosis Information Management System (TIMS), is used for RVCT
data entry and electornic transmission of TB cae reports to CDC.
These data detect changes in TB morbidity, and assist federal,
state, and local public health officials, and policy makers in
program planning,, evaluation, and resource allocation.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
