The Survey of Inmates in State &
Federal Correctional Facilities, 2003, will measure changes in the
characteristics of State and Federal prison inmates since the 1997
survey. Computer-assisted personal interviews will be conducted
with a nationally representative sample of 20,000 inmates in 330
State and Federal prisons. The questionnaire includes items on
individual & socioeconomic charactersitics; current offense and
victims of the offense; criminal history; alcohol/drug use and
treatment; medical and mental health conditions; and activities in
prison.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
