Veteran, Selected Reservists and other beneficiaries use VAF 22-8691 to apply for work-study allowance under 38 U.S.C. chapters 30, 31, 32, and 35, Section 903 of Public Law 96-342, and 10 U.S.C. ch. 1606. VA uses this information to determine eligibility for work-study benefits. If claimants want an advance of work-study allowance, they file VAF 22-8692. If the do not want an advance, they file VAF 22-8692a. To extend a contract, they file VAF 22-8692b.
