The rehabilitation of individuals in
the United States who suffer from chronic renal failure has been
identified as an important national priority; and since 1973,
chronic hemodialysis patients have been provided financial support
by the Federal Government. CDC has the responsibility for
formulating strategies for the control of hemodialysis-associated
diseases, including vascular access infections, and infections due
to multi-drug resistant pathogens. In order to devise such control
measures, it is necessary to determine the extent to which the
incidence of these dialysis-associated diseases changes over
time.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
