In accordance
with 5 CFR 1320 the information collection is approved for a period
of three years. However, after completion of the first survey and
prior to conducting the second survey, the agency must provide to
OMB a summary of the survey, including response rates and a
discussion of any methodological or survey related issues that were
discovered during the course of conducting the first survey. They
agency must also provide a summary of any changes that will be made
in future surveys and any revisions to the surveys. Prior to
conducting the initial survey, the agency must also provide OMB
with the final draft of the survey.

The Food Safety and Inspection Service
(FSIS) of the U.S. Department of Agriculture is conducting a survey
of egg packing plants, egg products processing plants, meat
slaughter and processing plants, poultry slaughter and processing
plants, and plants that process meat or poultry products, but do
not slaughter. The survey collects data about technologies and food
safety practices used in industry to control pathogens. FSIS needs
accurate, up-to-date information to guide policy making and to
inform cost/benefit analysis of regulatory actions.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
