Approved. Upon resubmission, INS will report on the use the SEVIS system, specifically documenting any problems or issues that arose in its first year of implementation. Further, INS will report the status of allowing for the electronic submissions of the I-765 and I-539. INS will document any revisions made to this information collection in a memo to the OMB desk officer.

SEVIS will be used by institutions and sponsors to provide notifications, reports, updates and data required by regulations on the institutions and program, as well as on student and exchange visitors. Additionally, INS and DOS will use SEVIS to adjudicate benefits and services, track student and exchange visitor data, and to monitor institutions and program sponsor compliance with current regulations.
