New regulations are being established
for the importation into the US of gypsy moth host materials from
Canada due to infestations of gypsy moth. The regulations will
require trees without roots, trees with roots, shrubs with roots
and woody stems, logs, pulpwood with bark attached, outdoor
household articles, and mobile homes and their equipment to meet
certification or destination requirements if they move into or
through areas of the US that are not infested with gypsy moth. This
is necessary to prevent the introduction of gypsy moth into
noninfested areas of the US.
