This information collection request is approved on the following conditions: (1) The proposed survey will follow the methods outlined in the supporting documents submitted with the request for OMB clearance and the written responses to OMB questions received via email on Feb. 7, 2003. (2) A small non-monetary gift to the jurisdiction offices are approved as long as they do not exceed $50 in value per office.

This study will provide the Federal Government with a description of the extent to which four State child welfare agencies identify, locate and involve non-custodial fathers in case decision-making and permanency planning. It will also examine, in the four study States, the effectiveness of standard child support techniques in locating these fathers.
