Approved for use through 09/2005 with the understanding that ASPE and its contractor will provide OMB a fieldwork update in December 2003. The update must discuss any problems encountered in the field, including nonresponse and related bias, problems related to differences in firms' practices/procedures, etc. Most important, the update must include recommendations addressing any identified issues. ASPE must discuss this update with OMB before commencing the Wave 2 follow-up.

This is a longitudinal study of an admission cohort of private long-term care insurance claimants. A representative sample of claimants from 9 companies will be followed for 20 months to better understand the circumstances that motivate policy holders to file claims and to use various types of covered services over time.
