A telephone survey of 1000 adults in the American workforce will be conducted in early October, 2002, to understand their needs to and success in balancing work and family responsibilities and their preferences to have the option of comp time (time off from work) in lieu of overtime pay. Several pieces of legislation are being considered during the Fall Congressional session which relate to the issue of balancing work and family. The data obtained in this collection will be used by the Department of Labor and Congress to help determine changes to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Both President George W.
