The FTC proposes to survey approximately 530 consumers to examine the effect of broker compensation disclosures on consumers' ability to accurately compare the relative costs of alternative loans. The study findings will be used to help inform HUD in its consideration of mortgage broker compensation disclosures set forth in a recently proposed HUD rule. The FTC will also screen up to 1,750 consumers to identify eligible consumers for the survey.
