The National Oceanic and Atmospheric
Administration is seeking Paperwork Reduction Act clearance for new
requirements for a Seabird Avoidance Program. This collection would
support precautions for the lives of seabirds caught incidentally
by vessels using hook and line gear while fishing. The requirements
will be set forth in regulations at 50 CFR part 679.24(e). A
Seabird Avoidance Plan is prepared and kept onboard the vessel by
participants when using hook-and-line fishing gear.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
