year. CDC will provide OMB with the url for this web-based survey
once it has been programmed and before it becomes active. This is a
convenience sample of previously identified soap opera viewers in
the Knowledge Networks panel. CDC is reminded that the limitations
of this study--including the nonrepresentative nature of the
sample, the response rate, and the time lapse since initial airing
of the HIV storyline--should be reported with the results including
any findings that the storyline changed views regarding
HIV/AIDS.

This study will examine the effects of
a daytime drama storyline exposure on HIV stigma by re-interviewing
a subsample of adults initially interviewed about HIV stigma in the
summer of 2000. Respondents will be screened for regular exposure
to the daytime drama with an HIV storyline or other daytime dramas
with an HIV storyline airing on different networks. Changes in HIV
stigma from pre to post will be examined against a number of
independent variables.
