months in order to allow Fannie Mae (and, in turn, HUD) to come
into compliance with the race/ethnicity categories set forth in the
1997 standard. OMB will waive the 60-day notice for the subsequent
information collection request and will allow another 2 years on
the clearance (if the R/E categories are the only change being made
at that time). It is noted that this collection has been in
violation of the PRA since 1/31/01. HUD shall work to ensure that
no such violations of the PRA occur in the future.

Lenders will use this streamlined
application to gather borrower data to determine eligibility for
the HECM Program. The Department will gather the data for reports
to Congress regarding the Program.
