The proposed rule would allow power
reactor licensees to adopt risk-informed fire protection
requirements contained in the National Fire Protection Association
(NFPA) Standards 805 in lieu of current regulatory requirements.
Licensees choosing to use NFPA 805 would be required to conduct a
plant-wide re- analysis and document all analyses and evaluations,
modify their fire protection program, and conduct a monitoring
program to ensure engineering standards are maintained.
