The Demonstration to Improve the Direct Service Workforce will provide funding to states and community organizations to develop strategies and programs to improve the recruitment and retention of direct care service workers. The program will be funded under the President's New Freedom Initiative and will help to further the agency's goal of improving home and community supports for people with disabilities. Projects are expected to last for up to 36 months and conclude with demonstration evaluation on the effectiveness of the recruitment and retention strategy.
