The purpose of this data collection is
to collect surveillance data on congenital syphilis cases from
state and local health departments. The data are used by health
care planners at the national, state, and local levels to develop
and evaluate congenital syphilis prevention and control programs.
In addition, there are many other users of the data including
scientists, researchers, educators, students, and the
media.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
