Freshwater salmon and steelhead
anglers in California will be interviewed on the telephone
regarding their fishing activity, fishing expenditures and angler
demographics. The interview data will be used to develop baseline
information on fishing effort and economic impacts associated with
the freshwater salmon and steelhead sport fishery. The data will
also be used develop models that predict how fishing behavior would
likely be affected by changes in hatchery practices that may be
considered by NOAA Fisheries to facilitate recovery of natural
salmon and steelhead stocks listed under the Endangered Species
Act.
