Abstract: The proposed surveillance system will contribute to the understanding of fatal violence associated with schools, guide further research in the area, and help direct ongoing and future prevention programs. A number of studies of violent behavior and risk factors for violent injury have been conducted in school-based populations. Schools have been the sites for many interventions to prevent suicide and inter-personal violence among young people.
