The proposed information collection
will use a self-administered survey to provide an assessment of the
interest and readiness of public health and clinical laboratories
to participate in a national laboratory system (NLS) for the
purpose of sharing information, obtaining training, and providing
essential information to help enhance public health across the
nation. The expansion of the NLS concept will help each state
develop a tailored, systematic approach to best utilizing available
resources to integrate public health and clinical laboratories in
the interests of better surveillance, reporting and
response..

the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
