Authorized under the Education Sciences Reform Act of 2002, the School Survey on Crime and Safety: 2004 (SSOCS) is the only recurring federal survey which collects detailed information on crime and safety from the public school principals' perspective. The survey collects information on frequency and types of crimes at schools and disciplinary actions; information about perception of disciplinary problems in school; and a description of school policies and program concerning crime and safety.
