To improve its surveillance
capability, related to occupational risks in mining, NIOSH plans to
conduct a national suvey of mines and mine employees. This request
is for OMB approval to conduct the pilot study for the national
survey. The purpose of the pilot study is to evaluate the
effectiveness of the national survey recruitment materials,
questionnaire, and procedures in the acquisition of complete and
high quality data from a sample of mining operations.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
