NIOSH estimates the radiation doses
incurred occupationally by U.S. nuclear weapons production
employees with cancer is covered by the "Energy Employees
Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act of 2000 (EEOICPA)."
However, NIOSH may not have access to sufficient information to
estimate radiation doses for some classes of workers. Hence,
EEOICPA authorizes classes of employees to petition [HHS] to be
added to the special Exposure Cohort (the Cohort), a cohort of
employees who can qualify for compensation without the use of NIOSH
dose estimates. ....
