Under Section 112(r) of the Clean Air
Act, as amended, sources must register, document risk management
programs, and submit risk management plans to EPA. The first
submissions were received in early 1999. The next submissions for
most facilities are due by June 21, 2004. EPA is revising the risk
management program regulations (codified in 40 CFR part 68) to add
three data elements to the risk management plan, to modify the
re-sub- mission schedule for those sources who have significant
accidents and for those who change the information for the
emergency con- tacts.
