Childhood Cancers at United States Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune,
North Carolina.
New
collection (Request for a new OMB Control Number)
This case-control study will examine
whether there is an association between maternal exposures during
pregnancy to trichloroethylene (TCE) and tetrachloroethylene (or
perchlore- thylene)(PCE) in drinking water at Camp Lejeune during
the period of 1968-1985 and the risk of specific birth defects
(spina bifida, anencephaly, cleft lip and cleft palate) and
childhood leukemia in offspring. Computer Assisted Telephone
Interviews (CATI) will be conducted on 100 cases and 500 controls
to obtain data on water usage, as well as child and parent medical
history, lifestyle habits, and occupational history.
