To help pay for aviation security costs, as authorized by 49 USC 44940, TSA imposed the Aviation Security Infrastructure Fee (ASIF) on air carriers and foreign air carriers (67 FR 7926, codified at 49 CFR part 1511). The amount of ASIF collected by TSA from the carriers is based on the carriers' aggregate and individual costs for screening passengers and property in calendar year 2000 (49 U.S.C. 44940(a)(2)(B)(i),(ii)). The air carriers have already provided their year 2000 cost information to TSA. However, TSA has not yet completed its review of this information. This request will allow TSA to conduct such reviews
