The Department of Energy (DOE) must enforce energy efficiency standards specified by Statute, and must require that manufacturers label electric motors to show their energy efficiency. Also those manufacturers must certify that those motors meet specified energy efficiency standards. 42 U.S.C. 6313(b), 6315(d) and 6316(c). The requests for compliance certification information are necessary for the DOE to meet its enforcement responsibilities, and to implement the statutory labeling and certification requirements.
