FRA will use the collection of information to develop a generic profile of the approximately 500 individuals killed (and many injured) every year because of trespassing incidents on railroad property. These profiles will include such things as lifestyles, reading habits, entertainment choices, etc. FRA and its partners (representatives from Operation Life Saver, Inc. (OLI), the Class I railroads, short line railroads, the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, and other interested parties) will use the profile information to develop targeted education and enforcement programs for those trespasser populations determined to be at
