Under 47 CFR, 80.475, applicants/licensees of Automated Maritime Telecommunications System (AMTS) coast stations must notify the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) and/or the Interactive Systems, Inc. (ISI), of the AMTS fill-in stations locations. ARRL and ISI maintain databases of AMTS locations for amateur radio operators. The notification requirements insure that amateur radio operators seeking to commence operations within close proximity of other AMTS stations do not cause interference to AMTS licensees.
