This ICR covers both the Universal Waste requirements found at 40 CFR part 273, and the Mixed Waste conditional exemptions found at 40 CFR part 266. Universal Wastes are batteries, pesticides, thermostats, and lamps. They are RCRA hazardous wastes with streamlined handling requirements, since they are generated by a vast, primarily non-industrial community. Mixed Wastes are hazardous wastes mixed with low-level radioactive wastes. They are exempted from RCRA treatment, storage, transportation, and disposal requirements, provided they comply with existing Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulations.
