The purpose of the Study of Single Sex Schools is to describe what is currently known about the characteristics and effects of single sex schooling on student achievement and other outcomes, especially for at-risk students. Data collection includes surveys of teachers and principals at all existing single sex schools (n=18), and site visit interviews and observations at a sample of 6 single sex schools and 6 matched comparison schools (coeducational).
