Abstract: The SSNVS system is used by employers to verify their employees names and Social Security Numbers on file with SSA. Their process will decrease their burden of dealing with names and SSNs that do not match SSA's records and eliminate the need to fill out form W-2C to correct the errors. Data that an employer supplies to SSA for verification will be annotated with a match/no match indicator and will be returned to the employer. SSA will retain an audit trail of all supplied data.
