Abstract: The regulations outline the procedures and requirements to prevent the introduction or dissemination of any contagious or communicable disease of animals and/or live poultry from a foreign country into the US. The information provided is used to evaluate requests for the importation of restricted controlled materials into the US. Restricted/controlled materials are certain animal and poultry products and byproducts and also organisms and vectors. Disease prevention is the most effective method for maintaining a healthy animal population and enhancing our ability to compete in the international trade market.
