The Forest Service is seeking
information on a new research study for developing a better
understanding of communities' perceived risk of losses from
wildfire in the wildland-urban interface and their willingness to
pay for fuels reduction programs to reduce the risk of wildfires.
Information collected in this research will help natural resource
and fire managers to better understand the public's opinions of
fuels reduction activities. Respondents will be a stratified random
sample of heads of households.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
The following is a summary of the topics, regarding
the proposed collection of information, that the certification
covers:
(i) Why the information is being collected;

(iii) Burden estimate;
(iv) Nature of response (voluntary, required for a
benefit, or mandatory);
