All states have implemented early
hearing detection and interven intervention (EHDI) programs.
Current data indicates that nearly 40 percent of infants who do not
pass the intial hearing screening receive further evaluation and as
many as one-third of newborns identified with hearing loss are not
enrolled in inter- vention services. This study will examine the
barriers and factors contributing to loss or delay in follow-up.
The informa- tion obtained from this project will help all
stakeholders to improve the EDHI process.
