Approved consistent with the following terms of clearance: approved consistent with CDC memo submitted to OMB clarifying that "data will not be used to develop estimates that will be published as representative of the US," and "the results of this study will only be used to inform the design" of a future collection. For any additional work that CDC plans based on this pilot study CDC will include a detailed discussion on planned non-response bias analysis. While "raking" tends to reduce bias on the variables being "raked" to, this procedure alone is insufficient to account for potential response bias, and will not ensure a representative response of the population surveyed. Additionally, upon completion of this survey CDC shall submit a copy of the results and analysis to OMB for inclusion in the docket.

The purpose of this project is to pilot test a random digit dial telephone survey to estimate the prevalence of victimization and perpetration of intimate partner violence (IPV), sexual violence (SV) and stalking. The goals for the survey will be to determine the optimal order for asking questions about IPV, SV, and stalking, and to provide information that will assist in the selection of specific language to introduce IPV, SV and stalking questions in an ongoing national violence survey.
