A science based diabetes prevention
curriculum for American Indian school children is currently being
developed by a collaboration among eight tribal colleges and
universities. The project is co-funded by CDC and NIH/NIDDK. The
curriculum is designed to provide information and skills that will
lead to a reduction in the incidence and impact of diabetes and
promote an interest in science and health careers among tribal
school children. This study will provide information on the
community content of the curriculum pilot schools for refining and
