MMS will collect the information to obtain knowledge of structures and facilities. MMS will use the information to: ensure that operators are using the latest technology when installing unbonded flexible pipe or a pipeline riser with a floating platform; to assess damage and project any disruption of oil and gas from the OCS after a major environmental occurrance; to determine that fixed and floating platforms and structures are sound and safe for their intended purpose and the safety of personnel and pollution prevention.
