This submission requests approval for
an evaluation of the Improving Literacy through School Libraries
Program (LSL). LSL, established under the No Child Left Behind Act
2001 (NCLB), is designed to improve the literacy skills and
academic achievement of students by providing them with access to
up-to-date school library materials, technologically advanced
school library media centers, and professionally certified school
library media specialists. The evaluation of this program is
authorized by NCLB Title I, Part B, Subpart 4.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
