on energy consumption and related subjects for the manufacturing
sector of the US economy. In addition to being used for the
National Energy Modeling System, the MECS is used to augment a data
base on the manufacturing sector. Respondents are manufacturing
establishments.

The burden increase is due to
the fact that it is a reinstatement. This ICR will be done
quadrenially, and since only three-year extensions are given, the
ICR was discontinued and is now being reinstated.
