Abstract: TSA and the U.S. Coast Guard are issuing a joint final rule applicable to the maritime transportation sector that would require this information collection. The data to be collected is the biographic and biometric information necessary for TSA to complete the required security threat assessment on individuals who will seek unescorted access to secure areas of vessels and maritime facilities through the use of a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC). TWICs , when issued, will contain the biometric data necessary to prove the identity of the cardholder and to interoperate with access control systems at vessels and facilities nationwide.
