This package is for the reinstatement of the Indian Education Formula Grant Program to Local Educational Agencies application for funding. The application is used to determine applicant eligibility, amount of award, and appropriateness of project services for Indian students to be served. The single most important change to this instrument is that applicants will now submit their data electronically through EDFacts, which will result in more meaningful data and an easier, faster application process.

Per OMB direction, the burden for the Office of Indian Education’s Formula Grant EASIE is to be removed from the EDEN clearance package (OMB #1875-0240) and added into OIE’s OMB package #1810-0021. The burden removed from the EDEN package does not exactly match the burden added to this one because we refined the basis for burden estimates. The estimate of the number of applicants in Part II of Formula Grant EASIE is more accurate than that used for Part I in the EDEN package; therefore we have adjusted the estimated number of respondents to be consistent and more accurate. (Note: the total number of respondents, 11,185, is achieved by estimating 10,000 student forms and 1,185 local education agencies submitting student data to apply for Indian Education grants (as opposed to the 1,100 estimated in EDEN #1875-0240)).
