I and my colleagues thank you for providing the FIST Project with data on firearm background checks for 2006.
We are in the process of collecting data for the first six months of 2007 (January through June). If you would please fax (314-535-1729) or mail back your data on the enclosed tally sheet(s) by Monday, July 31st, we would appreciate it greatly.
Data provided by your agency and others across the nation will be combined to produce a national estimate of background checks for firearm transfers. “Background Checks for Firearm Transfers, 2005” is available on the BJS website at http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/abstract/bcft05.htm. We anticipate the 2006 report to be released this fall.
