The purpose of this collection is to
ensure the humane movement of horses to slaughter. APHIS requires
that food, water, and rest must be provided to these animals. APHIS
also prohibits the commercial transportation of horses considered
to be unfit for travel, and prohibit the use of electric prods on
these animals.
APHIS is requesting
emergency clearance to maintain the minimum standards to ensure the
humane movement of equines for slaughter. Assembly points,
feedlots, and stockyards will ensure the humane movement of equines
sold as slaughter horses.
This is a new collection of
information resulting in a program change of 4,275 hours.
