Meredith Eisenhart,

Administration on Aging

Meredith is the Project Coordinator for the U.S. Administration on Aging’s Alzheimer’s Disease Demonstration Grants to States (ADDGS) program. She will discuss how grantees are serving rural and underserved caregivers through their ADDGS programs, using specific states as examples.

Jed Johnson and Carol Maus,

Easter Seals

Jed and Carol will provide information on Easter Seals work with rural caregivers. In addition, they will share with participants a copy of their recent analysis of AARP/National Alliance for Caregiving 2004 Caregiver Survey data as it relates to rural caregiving. This report highlights both similarities and differences between rural caregivers and their urban counterparts.


  1. New Caregiving Initiatives and Partnerships at American Red Cross, 10:25-10:50 AM

American Red Cross

Jean will discuss American Red Cross’s new initiatives and partnerships to increase caregiving education and volunteer opportunities to include: New Family Caregiving consumer product, American Dental Association Foundation Grant, new opportunity with Administration on Aging, American Red Cross, and the Corporation for National and Community Services.


  1. Handling End of Life Issues in the Workplace, 10:50-11:15 AM

Kathy Brandt,

National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization

In the workplace, end-of-life issues can have a far reaching effect, not only on the individual directly affected, but also on their co-workers and bottom line. Kathy will present the It’s About How you LIVE-At Work initiative, designed to help businesses with these challenging issues. An overview of the Live-At Work resources on family caregiving, living with serious illness, grief and advance care planning will be shared.
