President Bush has established a national goal of universal, affordable broadband access for all Americans by 2007. To that end, the Administration is working with Congress, the Federal Communications Commission, and other parties to develop and advance economic and regulatory policies that foster broadband (high-speed Internet) deployment.
The national goal set by President Bush has led to the urgency of collecting current information on broadband subscription and usage. NTIA proposes to use the Census Bureau's October 2007 Current Populater Survey to collect this information. In order to do so, expedited review is needed by September 14, 2007.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that the collection of information encompassed by this request complies with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR 1320.8(b)(3).

(i) Why the information is being collected;
(ii) Use of information;
(iii) Burden estimate;
(iv) Nature of response (voluntary, required for a benefit, or mandatory);
